Attorney General Mayes to Host Community Conversation on Data Centers October 14

PHOENIX – Attorney General Kris Mayes today announced her office will hold a town hall meeting, "Community Conversation on Data Centers" on Wednesday, October 14, in Mesa. The event is open to the public and media.

Event details:

On August 31, 2026, Attorney General Mayes called for a statewide pause on data centers. She urged the Governor and state lawmakers to pass legislation halting data center approvals until Arizona develops a plan to manage the industry's growth.

"Arizona has to have a plan before we approve more data centers," said Attorney General Mayes. "With energy bills rising and our Colorado River water supplies cut by almost 30%, we can't keep approving projects and hope for the best. I look forward to hearing directly from Arizonans about this critically important issue."

The town hall is an opportunity for community members to learn more about the proposal and share their questions and concerns. Arizonans are encouraged to RSVP in advance at the Attorney General's website.
